Truck Driver (CDL Class A)

Truck Driver
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OR SUMMARY:
Transporting finished goods and raw materials over land. Inspecting vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance. Planning routes and meeting delivery schedules.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- May drive tractor-trailer or straight truck making deliveries to local or long-distance customers.
- Inspecting vehicles pre and post trips as required by DOT and communicating if repairs are required
- Maintaining ELD (electronic logs) using device provided
- Securing material before moving loads
- Assist in unloading of material (may consist of manual assistance or boom)
- Checking counts of material for accuracy
- Checking material for damages
- Planning routes and delivery schedules with Shipping Supervisor
- Obtain authorizations for pickups not pre-approved
- Performs all other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATIONAL SKILLS and EXPERIENCE:
- CLASS A CDL License
- Clean driving record with at least 3 years of experience
- Must have good communication skills and people skills
- Basic computer skills
