Press Glass’s specialty is insulated glass for any commercial project!
An insulated unit is a hermetically sealed system of glass panes separated from one another with spacer bars and insulated with silicone. In modern construction there is a variety of challenges to overcome where transparent wall partitions are concerned. Thanks to modern solutions, insulated units can help improve thermal performance, protect against noise, and control light transmission.
Find out more below about how PRESS GLASS can help overcome these challenges:
- Energy performance
- These days, more than any other time in history, building owners are looking for healthy, highly efficient, and cost-saving green structures. PRESS GLASS always listens to those needs to offer the best solutions:
- To achieve required SHGC or U-value, we work the renowned glass manufacturers to choose the best low-e coatings for the building’s location which helps manage the solar heat transmission.
- To enhance the thermal properties, we offer triple glazed units with two or three low-e coatings in the unit. A triple glazed unit is comprised of three panes of glass that are connected by two spacer bars and are thermally sealed.
- The space between glass panes can be filled with argon, which further reduces the transfer of heat.
- Aluminum spacer bars are generally the standard and an essential element in glazed units but have proven to be a weak point in IGU efficiency. Thermally insulated glass can lose heat through aluminum spacer bars, which aren’t as efficient at keeping the cold air out. To significantly increase thermal insulation of the spacer bar in insulated units, we offer higher-end spacer bars called Warm Edge Spacers which are spacer bars made from highly insulating materials or special steel and are more efficient at keeping heat inside.
- Light control
- It’s not a secret that natural light helps increase health and comfort for building occupants. It is estimated that the average person spends 85% of their time indoors, either at home, office, school or other commercial building, so it’s important to create large openings. PRESS GLASS helps support these designs by offering extra-large glass sizes – 126”x236”.
- Windows, skylights or roof lanterns are fundamental for admitting natural light into a space. PRESS GLASS can help manage the light transmission and reflection using different glass substrates and coatings, as well as by adding paint or digital print to the glass. This also helps to achieve even more unique design visions; the possibilities are essentially endless.
- When considering light control, it is important to manage glare which can be done using glass fins. Glass fins are long, narrow pieces of glass that may be applied to the external surface of the curtain wall to provide shielding from the sun’s rays at specific angles.
- Acoustics Performance
- For projects in areas where noise is a concern, PRESS GLASS offers superior acoustic IGUs with laminated panes containing acoustic film and thicker spacer bars. The laminated glass can be strategically placed inboard for sound insulation or outboard for safety. Choose insulated glass to combine energy efficiency, aesthetic appeal, and acoustic comfort in one package.
These advanced glass units are designed to optimize energy performance, ensuring that buildings stay warm in the winter and cool in the summer by minimizing heat transfer.
